The sanctuary covers an area of 55sq.Kms. and is a treat for wildlife lovers. The key fauna include elephant, slothbear, mouse deer etc. Rich and varied types of avifauna and reptiles can also be seen here.

The Hindhu pilgrim centre is about 34kms. north of Kollam . The unique Parabrahma Temple here is dedicated to 'Universal Consciousness' and enshrines no deity or idol . Ochira Kali in mid. June and Panthrandu Vilakku in Nov. / Dec. are the two main annual festivals. Ochira Kali is a mock fight enacted between groups of men , highlighting their martial skills . It is also an important handicrafts centre.

The highest peak in the district is located near Meppady town , 15kms. from Kalpetta and is a 'trekker's paradise ' . The District Tourism Promotion Council provides giudes , sleeping bags , canvases , huts and trekking implements on hire . The trekking to the Chembra Peak is a risky mountaineering endeavour . The breathtaking scenic beauty of Wayanad can be enjoyed from here .

The palm fringed beach adjacent to the airport is about 8kms. from the city centre . T h is long stretch of clean sand is a popular place for relaxation as well as watching sun-set . Other attraction on the beach are , an indoor recreation club , the matsya kanyaka , children traffic training park and a starfish shaped restaurant.

It lies 25kms. from Kozhikode and is a treat for bird watchers . Thousands of migratory birds like terns , gulls , herons , sandpipers , whimbrels etc ..... , gather here during the breeding season which starts from November and return back in April

The 950acres of lush island is set on the tributaries of east flowing Kabbani river . It is an excellent picnic spot, far away from the disturbances of city life . Rare species of birds , orchids and herbs can be sighted at the island . It is 17kms. east of Mananthavadi and 40kms. from Sulthan'sBathery .

    The beautiful bird sanctuary is located 12kms. west of Kottayam town. The sanctuary set on the eastern bank of Vembanad Lake extends over 14acres of lush greenery and blue waters. The birds seen here include water fowl , cuckoo , owl , ducks and migratory birds like Siberian storks . Best time to visit is between June and August .  This is also an ideal site for enjoying the backwaters and boat cruise. Boats are available on hire around the Lake .

HOUSE BOATS H ouse boating is a very popular recreational activity for groups of people of all ages, aboard houseboats of all varieties, ranging from more modest 30–40 foot boats to 70-foot (21 m)-plus luxury houseboat models. House boating is appealing due to the ability to more completely explore the local scenery, remain in close proximity to other outdoor activities (hiking, boating, beaches, etc.), and finally, retain the potential to move the living quarters for a change of view or neighbours, on a whim. Alapuzha (Venice of the East) or Alleppey as it is popularly known is the most prominent township in the backwaters. The Backwaters of Kerala is a network of interconnected canals, rivers, lakes and inlets formed by more than 900 km of waterways. The backwaters have a unique ecosystem - freshwater from the rivers meets the seawater from the Arabian Sea.

Silent Valley NationalPark is situated in Palakad district. We need to take pass to enter into the forest per head Rs80 and the forest office arrange a jeep for travel we want to pay extra for jeep(jeep rent Rs1300) the maximum number of person in jeep is 6. Their is no shops inside forest so if we need anything to eat we can buy foods nearby hotels and shops. The national parks opening time is 9am and closing time is 1pm . I like forest so i enjoyed a lot with my cousin . Its traveling about 21km in forest in jeep it give as a offroad experience in jeep total 42km is their upanddown. we can see different types of animals like tiger,elephant,deers,liontailed monkey  etc ..... In top their is a tower which we can get a scenary of that full forest ....their is a trekking for 2km it is also so enjoyable we can bath in the river .The view from the top of the Hill is relly super.      Here i want to say you that the person who love forest and want to get relax v...
